Woman on a Mission: Tara Wallace
We ALL have a voice meant to be used. When you raise yours for the right cause, the harmony you will create is beautiful. - Tara Wallace
Tara WallaceYWCA Board of Directors#ONAMISSION since April 2019How did you first get involved at the YWCA?I attended several community events before being asked to join the board.Who is the woman you look up to the most and why?My mothers and grandmothers are the women I look up to the most. They were fierce advocates in the community so it is only reasonable that I follow in their footsteps and blaze a deeper trail. What are you most proud of in your work with the YWCA?Being able to share the message and mission of the YWCA gives me a great sense of pride. I have always stood up for what was right, not matter the consequence. Working with a group of individuals who share that vision empowers and encourages me.What is one thing you’ve learned in your time on the board? We ALL have a voice meant to be used. When you raise yours for the right cause, the harmony you will create is beautiful. What drives you to do this work? I was raised to believe that everyone deserves a chance to live the best version of themselves possible. Somewhere along the way we were taught that being different is unacceptable, and that understanding those differences is unnecessary. Educating others and applying that education in our daily lives is critical to eliminating racism and empowering women. What do you like to do for fun?Family is important to me. When I am not spending time with my husband and sons, I spend time with an amazing group of sister-friends, my #Tribe4Life.Who do you look up to or feel inspired by within the YWCA?I have always admired YWCA CEO Kathleen Marker's passion for the mission of the YWCA. Long before I became a member of the board I enjoyed listening to her talk about daily operations and the impact the YWCA has made in our community.Thank you, Tara! Like Tara said, we all have a voice to be heard. You can use yours in service to our mission by becoming a volunteer or donating to our mission today.
